About Northern Territory Imaging

Northern Territory Imaging is a Michigan-born, Michigan-driven photography company led by owner, founder, and photographer Philip Hutchinson. With more than two decades of professional experience, NTI has carved out a reputation for honest storytelling, technical precision, and a deep connection to the people and places that make the Mitten what it is.

Philip’s career began with an eight-year stretch as a staff photographer for one of the Midwest’s largest publishing groups, producing editorial and cover photography for high-end tourism, lifestyle, and culture magazines across the state. His work has taken him from Detroit high-rises to U.P. backroads, from major events to quiet corners of communities most people never get to see.

After years of shooting for publications statewide — including national brands and Michigan staples like Hour Detroit — Philip launched Northern Territory Imaging to focus on what he does best: capturing real stories with clarity, intention, and a sense of place.

Today, NTI covers a wide spectrum of work:

• Editorial & publication photography

• Tourism, lifestyle, and brand storytelling

• Portraits, events, and commercial assignments

• Specialized divisions including film photography, weddings, boudoir, action sports, and documentary-style projects

Northern Territory Imaging is also the creative force behind STOKE Magazine, Michigan’s fast-rising extreme-sports and creative-culture publication. STOKE’s visual identity, storytelling approach, and statewide energy all originate from NTI’s creative foundation.

Whether it’s capturing the speed of the Detroit Grand Prix, the silence of a northern trail at sunrise, or the faces and stories that define Michigan culture, Northern Territory Imaging brings the same focus every time:

Authentic images.

Real Michigan stories.

Work that lasts.
